Outcome of the Proposed Works:
- Domestic Wastewater discharging directly or indirectly into the river will be intercepted and target of total prevention of sewage discharge into the river will be achieved.
- Abatement of pollution in River Mula Mutha by provision of 11 new STPs (total 396MLD), trunk sewers and 24 CTCs thereby improving the water quality & ecology and overall improvement of public health in the city.
- Provide relief to existing 90 years old trunk sewer by up- gradation and rehabilitation of existing sewerage facilities in the city.
- Beneficial reuse of treated sewage. Treated sewage will be used for irrigation in agriculture
- Effluent of proposed STPs will be utilized for irrigation of nearly 21,000 Hectares by pumping 515 MLD of treated water into Canal network of irrigation Department. Irrigation has given discount on raw water usages to PMC
- Energy recovery in Bhairoba and Naidu STPs by power generation via turbines.
- Provision of centralised SCADA for monitoring and controlling the 20 (existing and proposed) STPs and 6 ISPS.
- Training of PMC / GOI staff, capacity building and institutional development
- Helping meet the Service Level Benchmarks for Pune set by Central Government
